Findings

Fluorescent immune reaction reveals that IgG is deposited mainly along the dermal-epidermal junction.

Impression

IgG deposits, lupus erythematosus

Pathology Pointer

Immune reactions in lupus erythematosus include deposition of immunoglobulins, especially IgG. In addition, deposition of complement is also demonstrable (See image #19). The presence of these immune products is suggestive of, but not specific for, lupus erythematosus.
