A portion of a section of a renal corpuscle and adjacent renal tubules are shown. Note that Bowman's capsule contains the glomerular capillaries and is lined by a
simple squamous epithelium. The glomerular capillaries are also lined by a simple squamous
epithelium called endothelium. The adjacent renal tubules are lined by a simple cuboidal epithelium.
Comment
The cytoplasm of the simple squamous epithelia lining Bowman's capsule and the glomerular capillaries is often indistinct because of the flattened nature of these cells. However, the flattened nuclei are readily identifiable.
