In this medium-power view of the previous image, one can clearly see that the Peyer's patches are found both in the lamina propria and the submucosa. In places, Peyer's patches distort the arrangement of intestinal villi and glands.
Comment
The muscularis mucosae is often interrupted where
Peyer's patches are prominent.
