In this survey micrograph of the ileum one can see
numerous villi and lymphoid aggregates called Peyer's
patches beneath the mucosa and above the muscularis propria.
Comment
Peyer's patches are characteristic of the ileum. These lymphoid follicles extend from the lamina propria to the submucosa.
