goblet cells and are surrounded by the lamina propria.
The muscularis mucosae is the interface between the
mucosa and subjacent submucosa.
Comment
Unlike the small intestine, the mucosa of the colon
lacks villi and contains more goblet cells in the
intestinal glands.
