This segment of small intestine shows involvement by Crohn's disease, which grossly appears white and thickened. The loop of bowel is stuck together as the result of inflammation and fibrosis. The adhesions in this case caused a sharp kink with narrowing and obstruction of the bowel lumen. The segment proximal to the involved region is markedly dilated. The mucosa appears granular suggesting injury from inflammation and fibrosis.
