In this dried cross-section of ground bone stained with
ink, concentric lamellae of a complete Haversian system
(osteon) is seen in the center of the image. Note the darkstaining
lacunae with delicate radiating canaliculi.
Comment
Note that the ink staining indicates the location of
osteocytes and their delicate cytoplasmic processes
within the lacunae and canaliculi.
