At higher power, the growth (epiphyseal) plate is evident
above the calcified cartilage trabeculae and bone
marrow. Note that the perichondrium and periosteum
separate the developing bone from surrounding
connective tissue.
Comment
Calcified cartilage trabeculae will ultimately be
reabsorbed before bone is laid down by osteoblasts.
