Lesions of this disease appear radiographically as punched-out defects in the bone.

Pathology Pointer

Multiple myeloma is not only the most common malignancy of plasma cells but also the most frequent primary malignant bone tumor after age 40. It is a clonal proliferation of neoplastic plasma cells in the bone marrow.
