Granulomatous inflammation
consistent with Crohn's disease.
Pathology Pointer
Microscopically, Crohn's disease is characterized by: 1. Transmural inflammation consisting pre- dominantly of lymphocytes and plasma cells. 2. Granulomas, which are occasionally present, although they are not a specific finding. Gran- ulomas are often absent. 3. Occasional fissure formation. 4. Mucosal injury.
