Summary
Findings
In this low-power image of an empty bladder, the folded
mucosa is seen overlying the muscularis. As in the
ureter, the mucosa consists of a transitional epithelium
and subjacent lamina propria containing blood vessels.
Comment
Though not shown in this image, the muscularis
consists of three layers of smooth muscle that interlace
in the bladder wall and are not easily distinguished as
separate layers.
