Ciliated pseudostratified columnar epithelium from the respiratory tract of a monkey. Note the epithelium
consists of ciliated cells, interspersed goblet cells and
basal cells that rest on a basal lamina overlying a loose connective tissue containing a capillary.
Comment
Although all cells in this epithelium make contact with the basal lamina, not all reach the lumen, hence the pseudostratified appearance.
