Mid-Foot inflammatory Arthritis: Note the diffuse soft tissue swelling present across the region of the metatarsal phalangeal (MTP) joints of the left foot (right foot is normal by comparison). In this case, it's secondary to acute pseudogout of the MTPs. It is associated with acute pain, warmth, redness, loss of wrinkles in the foot, difficulty weight bearing. It resolves with time and/or the use of anti-inflammatory therapies. Other acute inflammatory process affecting the MTPs could have a similar appearance and presentation.
