In this image, the tonsilar crypts, formed by
invagination of stratified squamous nonkeratinized
epithelium, are seen in both cross- and longitudinal section. Lymphoid nodules containing germinal
centers sit on top of a dense irregular connective
tissue with blood vessels and numerous adipocytes.
